Three Books

I think Tricia hit the nail in the head when she said this book was a little silly. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up was motivating though. I learned some new tricks. I am a mother of a 2 year old and don't really expect to have the time to fully follow her method 100%. I am not sure if her method would be life-changing but I have no doubt that it would be eye-opening. If I only had the time to try it.

Since reading the last book, I have been doing good just to get some daily Bible time. I got this Bible from the very first church I went to as an adult. Currently, I am reading Proverbs.

I have been itching to read a good fiction thriller. One that you stay up WAY to late even when you have to be up WAY to early the next morning because you just cannot stop. I am going to try Behind Closed Doors. I heard about it from @ashleyspivey 's instagram account. Every once in a while she does book reviews or shares her reading list on her account.

Today I am linking up with Love Bailey Jean's Blog-tember challenge.

Instagram Round Up

OK, so apparently I dropped off the face of the planet for a few days.....or week. I had such good intentions, then came a TDY. Even though I think we do less when my hubby is gone, the days just get so crazy. Probably because I have all the responsibility to myself. Yay, MilSpouse life!

Anyhow I am back and, I LOVE Instagram. I am posting constantly! I love to take pictures, especially of my little one. Follow me :)

Here is a list of my favorite Instagram profiles to browse for inspiration.

Running Playlist

I used to live for music when I was younger. Now that I am older I just don't keep up with artists like I did. I also lost thousands of songs I had built up when I switched over to Android from my Apple electronics last year. Now I am a huge Pandora fan. I found my favorite station one day while on a run. Now I love to play it while cleaning too. It is Running (Radio Mix) Radio. So I thought it would be fun to turn it on and record the first 10 songs that play. Here they go:

1. My Songs Know What You Did in The Dark (Light Em Up) - Fall Out Boy

2. My House - Flo Rida

3. Get it Girl - John Hart

4. Shake it Off - Taylor Swift

5. Swoon - Timeflies

6. Turn The Night Up - Enrique Iglesias

7. Razor - ASTR

8. Going Down For Real - Flo Rida

9. My Trigger - Miike Snow

10. Drop It - Trevor Jackson

Most Memorable Birthday

My most memorable birthday doesn't belong to me. It belongs to my daughter. The day I became a mother and I changed forever. It was the longest day of my life! I started feeling contractions at dinner time the night before my due date and I had not had any braxton hicks before so I didn't know if it was the real thing or not. I called the nurse line for my physician and she told me that since I had only been dilated to 1 cm at my last appointment then I probably needed to wait for a bit and just time my contractions. They never died down or grew further apart. They only got stronger and quicker. I timed them until 2:30 in the morning, woke my husband up and told him that I wanted to go to the hospital. It had began to snow and ice so we packed everything up and went ahead to the hospital. When we got there I was only dilated to 2 cm but my contractions were strong and I was in active labor so they did not want to let me go home when a snow storm was coming in. I was in labor for 19 hours before I started pushing and ended up pushing for almost 4 hours.

At one point the physician came in and said that my options were to use the vacuum to help her come out or to start prepping for a cesarean. After talking to the physician and nurses I decided to try the vacuum. After about 15 more minutes, H was born.

Because of the vacuum being used, H's head was misshapen and had a huge hematoma on it. (Her misshaped head rounded out at about 1.5 years old)

Can you believe not one person got a picture of me and my baby on her birthday!

My mom got out in the (Texas) blizzard to come be with me during labor.

Even though I had asked everyone not to come until I had her, my aunt showed up about the time I started pushing. I am so thankful she was a stubborn woman and was there.

When the hematoma started to break down H's bilirubin levels went up and she became jaundice.

So on the fourth day of her life she was transferred to NICU and I was discharged :( She did 24 hours of phototherapy and then was discharged. For the week after her discharge we had to go to her pediatrician every day to get her bilirubin levels checked. Besides that small set back, she was healthy and beautiful and her birthday was the most amazing thing to happen to me.

September Goals

I love reading everyone's goals post at the first of the month. It's always so inspiring to me. I read article on how to set goals and achieve them, think about what is important to me, and come close to writing them out and making a plan. I just never seem to follow through. Today is the day. I am going to lay it all out here so I can hold myself accountable. I am using the SMART goal method.

Goal #1
Specific - I want to loose weight.
Measurable - 15 pounds to be exact.
Action - cut out sodas and candy, exercise 5 days a week
Realistic? - Yes, I have gain that much in the last few months so I'm sure I can take it off.
Timely - I will give myself until Thanksgiving.

Goal #2
Specific - Take my Bible study to the next level.
Measurable - read bible study plans from the Bible app. Thrive moms: warrior study, She is......Mom, and Promises from God for your child.
Action - read the daily plans, it's all laid out.
Realistic? - Yes
Timely - read over the month of September

Goal #3
Specific - Participate in Blog-tember.
Measurable - blog all 30 days
Action - get as much done over the weekend as possible and work at least 10 minutes a day on posts.
Realistic - it's going to be hard but yes, I can do this.
Timely - 30 days.

Goal #4
Specific - Quit spending money on stuff I don't need.
Measurable - Not buying stuff unless it is on my need to buy list.
Action - Make a list and stick to it.
Realistic - I believe so. I think buy making a list and sticking to it, I will prevent the random browsing in the dollar sections of stores.
Timely - I am going to really buckle down for the month of September because then I will need to start buying Christmas gifts.

Howdy, my name is Kenda!

Hello, my name is Kenda and these two are my world!

I call them J and H on my blog. J is my husband of 8 years, and H is our 2 and a half year old daughter. We recently moved to Georgia because of the military. We were not always so excited to come but now that we are here we are loving it.

Our hobbies include:
Going to gymnastics (mommy & me class)
Playing with Snap chat filters
Anything that involves Barbies, babies, or Little People
And traveling

If my husband is not TDY you can commonly find us on the beach, hiking to a water fall, or learning about the deep history of this state and the wars it was involved in.

My blog is new and I am still learning a lot. My blog is mostly about our travels and adventures. You will also see a lot of my daughter and my personal growth in minimalism and faith. I hope to meet a lot of new bloggers by doing this challenge. I am so excited for the next month!
