Ruby Falls in Chattanooga, TN

Planning a trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee? Don't miss Ruby Falls. Is it kid friendly? Yes. Toddler friendly? Eh, not really. Do it anyway.

I haven't seen anything more beautiful or magnificent (besides my daughter's sweet face) than Ruby Falls. It is located in Chattanooga Tennessee. The main feature is a beautiful waterfall located over 1,120 feet below the surface of Lookout Mountain. The person who found the waterfall named it after his wife, Ruby (swoon). There are no strollers allowed down the path of the cave and it gets slippery quite often. That made for a very difficult walk for an independent two year old. Once we got to the waterfall, there was something magical that made the nightmarish hike there oh so worth it. Take a look at our pictures below.

Along the trip, there are many stopping points where the tour guide gives you a history or science lesson regarding what you are seeing.

H didn't nap the entire 4 hours it took to get there and that put us there right at nap time. She was such a handful and I still swear she was trying to kill herself that day by walking off into a hole in the cavern or something but as exhausted as I was when we got the waterfall, the views made up for everything. It was amazing to say the least. I hope to go again when H is older and better able to appreciate the tour.

Visit the Ruby Falls website to find out more about the history and to plan a trip. You will LOVE it, I promise.

Have you visited Ruby Falls?

What is your favorite cavern you have been to?
